RESOURCE  PERSONS / CONSULTANTS
   
 

The following professionals (key staff) are associated with PRDIS and are engaged either on full-time or part-time basis.

1) Prof. S.Venku Reddy has over three decades of vast experience in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development. He worked in various positions as Professor. Advisor and Consultant to different organizations including World Bank. He has been instrumental in initiating participatory approaches (VLPA) in Africa with success. He has gained lot of insights into Rural Development Programmes while associating with Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Programmes in India and East Africa. He has National and International experience concerning Natural Resource Management and Rural Livelihood Programmes. As a Professor and Head of Extension Education Institute, ANGRAU, he had organized number of State and National level workshops, seminars and training programmes as well as monitored number of Government sponsored rural development programmes. Besides, he has also undertaken number of large-scale impact assessment and evaluation studies sponsored by different donors. At present, he is the Principal Investigator of the FAO sponsored Integrated Pest Management Programmes and also the coordinator for District Level Monitoring of Rural Development programmes.

2) Dr. N. Sreerama Reddi, Former Dean of Agriculture, ANGR Agricultural University Hyderabad is a specialist in Genetics and Plant breeding with over 30 years of experience in different capacities in teaching , research, extension services. During the period, he had been instrumental in formulating and implementing the technical programmes in rice varieties and production technology. Dr. Reddy is mainly responsible for development of BPH resistant varieties namely Chaitanya, Krishnaveni, Vijetha(MTU1001), which are very popular varieties in A.P. contributing to food security. He has a distinction of developing hybrid rice (A.P. HRI and A.P.HR2) for the first time in tropical countries of the world. He was mainly responsible for popularizing and spread of improved rice varieties through minikits, demonstrations and training. He is widely traveled in different countries for studying educational systems in Agriculture.

3) Prof. S.Jayarama Reddy is a Communication Specialist. He was formerly coordinator of Planning & Monitoring cell, and Evaluation Unit, ANGR Agricultural University. He is also a law graduate and trained Journalist. He has more than two and half decades of experience in teaching, research and extension in addition to documentation and process monitoring. He has organized a number of state level extension training programmes, seminars, workshops and kisan mela exhibitions and acted as a liaison between the Agricultural University and other educational institutions in India and abroad including the Commonwealth Universities. He has rich experience in coordinating the university activities with particular reference to rendering technical advices to the farmers through Plant Health Clinic, documentation and process monitoring.

4) Dr. I.V.Subba Rao, Consultant (PRDIS) is a retired Professor and University Head, Plant Physiology Department, ANGRAU. He was Associate Dean of Agricultural college Aswaropet for half a decade and Principal Investigator for several ICAR projects including a project on cashew sponsored by Department of Bio-technology, GOI. He was recipient of ICAR and JJ Chenoy gold medals for his outstanding contribution in the field of plant physiology. He has over four decades of experience in teaching, research and administration. He is a Nodal Officer for Agri-clinic and Agri-business Centres Programme. He has conducted seven training programmes successfully. He has expertise on Agriculture and Horticulture issues concerning Rural Livelihoods.

5) Dr. M. Suryamani, is Associate Professor (Agricultural Extension), ANGRAU and part time Consultant of PRDIS. She is Specialist in Participatory Methodologies. She has also undertaken number of evaluation studies through postgraduate students research. She has one and half decades of experience in training, research and management of programmes connected with Agricultural Extension and Rural Development with focus on self-help women groups and micro credit issues. She has practical experience of initiating and organizing several training programmes, process monitoring and studies using participatory approaches (PRA and VLPA). She is associated with Integrated Pest Management, Seed village and Biotechnology programmes.

6) Dr.C.Beena, Dy. Director, Academic staff College, Osmania University is a Resource Member of PRDIS. She is a Social Scientist with considerable experience in process monitoring gender, socially disadvantaged groups, managing self-help groups and entrepreneurship developmental issues.

7) Dr.N.Mrutyunjayam, is an Extension Specialist. He was formerly Professor of Extension, ANGR Agricultural University. He has more than three and half decades of experience in all areas of agricultural extension encompassing methodology, training, teaching, guiding and transfer of technology from lab to land.. He has expertise in agricultural field expansion, communication training and strategy, management of rural extension projects and programs, farm mass media development for transfer of technology, farm information dissemination. He identified and collated regional needs towards policy development and implementation that lead to increased capacity building of state, divisional and field level functionaries.

8) Dr.P.Sambaiah.He is a Veterinary Graduate and has more than three decades of experience as a Veterinary Surgeon in the tribal areas of Andhra Pradesh. During his service he educated tribal community in undertaking improvement of Animal Husbandry practices in cows, Buffaloes, Sheeps and Goat. He is also worked as Extension Officer (Animal Husbandry) in erest while Panchayat Samithis dealt with Dept.of ITDA, SC Corporation, BC Corporation and Ministry of Department where in the livelihood of tribals was increased with the supply milch animals, Plough Bullocks, sheep Units, irrigation wells for fodder improvement and crops with collaboration of Nationalized Bank. He is also experience as a Mandal Development Officer. As a MDO he arranged loans to tribals and SCs for developing their self employment and livelihood by organizing rural melas.

9) Dr.K.Ananthasen is a Genetics and Plant breeder. He has 20 years of teaching experience at S.V. Agriculture College, Tirupathi, Rajendranagar and 10 years of Research experience in Oil Seeds Project, Rajendranagar and Palem, RARS. He Guided 12 M.Sc (Ag) Genetics & Plant Breeding Students, 2 Ph.D Students . His achievements in research are handled two Adhoc projects on Sunflower, released the first Sunflower Hybrid AP SH 11 from APAU, worked in Castor in oil seed project at Palem, APAU and released the first castor variety from APAU namely Kranthi .Published 12 Research papers in different Oils Seeds Crops and Sorghum. Visited Russia and Delivered lecture on Hybrid Research work in Sunflower in India at Krasnodar Oil Seed Research Station, Russia.

10) Mr.R.G.Naidu Consultant, is a Post Graduation in Science. He is also a graduate in Library Science. He has more than three decades of experience in documentation. He has also experience as a Project Evaluator. He has also experience in implementation of rural development projects. He has rich experience in administration.

11) Mr. M. Ravi Kumar is an Agricultural Economist and Consultant PRDIS. He has experience of working with Micro Credit Organization. He has supervised the studies concerned with IPM-FFS in Karnataka State. He has good experience in issues connected with Watershed Management, SHGs and Organic Farming.

12) A. Srilakshmi, Consultant, PRDIS is a postgraduate in Foods and Nutrition with experience in health, child labour and nutritional issues. She was engaged earlier with special studies in Indo-Dutch network project. She is undertaking studies on health. HIV AIDS and disabled persons.
